Settlement Decisions
E-E-A-T Commitment

Editorial & Trust Standards

How we research, write, and maintain the content on SettlementDecisions.com — and why you can trust it.

Research-First

Every claim is sourced from public records, regulatory filings, industry data (NASP, NSSTA), or direct company verification. We cite our sources.

Editorial Independence

No structured settlement purchaser pays for placement, favorable reviews, or content edits. Revenue relationships do not influence our educational content, calculator results, or rate data.

Reader Interest First

Our content exists to help settlement holders make informed decisions. If a piece of information would help you negotiate better or avoid a bad deal, we publish it — even if it makes a purchaser uncomfortable.

Regular Updates

Financial content goes stale. We review and update all core pages at least quarterly. Every page shows its last-updated date. Market data (discount rates, buyer rankings) refreshes from live sources.

Clear Limitations

We state clearly what we are and what we are not. We are not lawyers, CPAs, or licensed advisors. We always recommend consulting a professional for your specific situation.

Plain Language

Structured settlements are complex. We write at a level that a first-time reader can understand, without sacrificing accuracy. Technical terms are always defined.

Our Editorial Process

1

Research & Sourcing

Content begins with primary sources: state SSPA statutes, court records, NASP/NSSTA industry data, BBB profiles, company filings, and the U.S. Treasury Fiscal Data API. We do not rely on press releases or company marketing materials as primary sources.

2

Writing & Structure

Articles are structured to answer the reader’s question directly, then provide supporting detail. We use data tables, calculators, and visual aids to make complex financial concepts accessible.

3

Fact-Checking & Review

All numerical claims (discount rates, timelines, state law details) are verified against their original source before publication. Rate data is cross-referenced with live market feeds where available.

4

Ongoing Maintenance

Content is reviewed quarterly. When laws change, rates shift, or companies update their practices, we update our pages and note the revision date. Outdated content is removed or clearly marked.

Revenue & Independence

We earn revenue by connecting users who consent to be contacted with a structured settlement purchaser. This revenue model is disclosed on our Disclaimer page.

Our revenue relationships do not influence: calculator math or results, discount rate data, buyer rankings or ratings, educational content or advice, or state law information. The tools produce the same output for every user regardless of whether they choose to be connected with a purchaser.

Corrections

If you find an error or believe content is outdated, please contact us at contact@settlementdecisions.com. We investigate all reports and issue corrections promptly. Material corrections are noted on the affected page.
